Ubisoft Motion Pictures

New Regency and 20th Century Fox (via Yahoo!) have revealed the first image of X-Man star Michael Fassbender in costume as Callum Lynch in Ubisoft Motion Pictures’ Assassin’s Creed adaptation.

Fassbender plays a brand new character not from any of the many games in the series. The Justin Kurzel-directed picture also stars an Academy Award-winner Marion Cotillard, Michael Kenneth Williams (12 Years a Slave), and Ariane Labed (Before Midnight). Production begins on Monday, August 31. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on December 21, 2016.

Glad to see this is finally happening. Might be the first good game adaptation. Here’s the plot of Assassin’s Creed movie:

Lynch discovers he is a descendant of the secret Assassins society through unlocked genetic memories that allow him to relive the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. After gaining incredible knowledge and skills he’s poised to take on the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day.
