Luc Besson’s LUCY: First Look at Scarlett Johansson

Luc Besson’s new sci-fi action thriller Lucy is probably one of the most surprising first looks at a CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas this week and Universal Pictures has just dropped the first official photo of Scarlett Johansson.

The studio kicked off its presentation at CinemaCon 2014. The film stars Johansson in the titular role as a young woman who is a reluctant drug mule who swallows a tsunami of unknown drugs and gains hyperpowered ass-kicking abilities. (Don’t do drugs, kids!)

However, the character is transformed into “an incredible fighter capable of clairvoyance, telekinesis, and an ability to disregard pain and emotion when one of the designer drugs enters her system.”

I love to see a woman as a very strong character. It’s like cooking: sugar with a
bit of salt, and Lucy definitely can get salty,

the director explained.

The footage reportedly showed her taking down legions of bad guys with both guns and some sort of telekinetic abilities. The film co-stars Morgan Freeman as a college professor who studies the brain and Analeigh Tipton.

The first official trailer is scheduled to debut on April 2nd. Lucy hit theaters this summer, on August 8th.
