First Official Trailer for NIGHTCRAWLER Starring Jake Gyllenhaal

Open Road Films has released the first official trailer for Dan Gilroy’s (The Bourne Legacy screenwriter) indie drama Nightcrawler, starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

The film was announced to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and we’ve already seen viral teaser late last week. However, an angry scene when Gyllenhaal is punching a mirror, that sequence is teased below. (After that, he was forced to get stitches in his hand).

The cast also includes Bill Paxton, Rene Russo, Ann Cusack, Eric Lange and Kevin Rahm, but it’s all about Gyllenhaal, who looks like he’s still at the top of his game.

After making its world premiere at TIFF this September, Nightcrawler lands in theaters October 17th.

“If you want to win the lottery, you have to make the money to buy a ticket.”

NIGHTCRAWLER is a pulse-pounding thriller set in the nocturnal underbelly of contemporary Los Angeles. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Lou Bloom, a driven young man desperate for work who discovers the high-speed world of L.A. crime journalism. Finding a group of freelance camera crews who film crashes, fires, murder and other mayhem, Lou muscles into the cut-throat, dangerous realm of nightcrawling — where each police siren wail equals a possible windfall and victims are converted into dollars and cents. Aided by Rene Russo as Nina, a veteran of the blood-sport that is local TV news, Lou thrives. In the breakneck, ceaseless search for footage, he becomes the star of his own story.
