CBS Films has released the first trailer and poster for their teen comedy The DUFF, starring Mae Whitman (Truly Hideous) as a high schooler Bianca, secretly known as “The DUFF” which is code for “Designated Ugly Fat Friend” in her social circle.

Whitman is anything but ugly or fat. I’m not worried about her ‘cos she looks cute as hell. Well, at least, she’s lost weight since Scott Pilgrim. Not to mention, Whitman’s been playing the same age since Arrested Development.

In the April 10th release, current version of Mark Walters’ Mean Girls co-stars Bella Thorne, Robbie Amell, Bianca Santos, Skyler Samuels, Nick Eversman, Alison Janney, Romany Malco and Ken Jeong.

Based on the novel by Kody Keplinger, this unsatirical version of Not Another Teen Movie (which is underrated) was directed by Ari Sandel from a script by Josh Cagan.

Watch the teaser and check out the poster and photos below.

I’m a few (sic) years  out of high school, but this is, at best, middle-school slang. It’s as Ann as the nose on plain’s face.  Janney driving a ride-on lawn mower while drinking will be the best part of the movie. (I thought 21 Jump Street destroyed these types of movies).

Bianca (Mae Whitman) is a content high school senior whose world is shattered when she learns the student body knows her as ‘The DUFF’ (Designated Ugly Fat Friend) to her prettier, more popular friends (Skyler Samuels & Bianca Santos). Now, despite the words of caution from her favorite teacher (Ken Jeong), she puts aside the potential distraction of her crush, Toby (Nick Eversman), and enlists Wesley (Robbie Amell), a slick but charming jock, to help reinvent herself. To save her senior year from turning into a total disaster, Bianca must find the confidence to overthrow the school’s ruthless label maker Madison (Bella Thorne) and remind everyone that no matter what people look or act like, we are all someone’s DUFF.
