First Trailer for ‘Gifted’ Starring Chris Evans and Jenny Slate
Fox Searchlight has released the official trailer and poster for the upcoming family drama Gifted, directed by The Amazing Spider-Man helmer Marc Webb and starring Chris Evans and Jenny Slate.
While the movie teams up the filmmaker with another superhero star, the only powers come from a child prodigy played by Mckenna Grace (Independence Day: Resurgence). Featuring Jenny Slate, Octavia Spencer and Lindsay Duncan in supporting roles, Gifted tells the story an uncle (Evans) who fights to protect his late sister’s daughter (Grace), but their world is threatened by her grandmother (Duncan) who wants to enroll her in a special program for gifted students.
See the trailer below for the film that premieres April 12, 2017, although I wouldn’t be surprised if it debuts at the Sundance Film Festival in January.
It looks like a sweet little movie, I’d totally be down to see that.
Frank Adler (Chris Evans) is a single man raising a child prodigy – his spirited young niece Mary (Mckenna Grace) in a coastal town in Florida. Frank’s plans for a normal school life for Mary are foiled when the seven-year-old’s mathematical abilities come to the attention of Frank’s formidable mother Evelyn (Lindsay Duncan) whose plans for her granddaughter threaten to separate Frank and Mary. Octavia Spencer plays Roberta, Frank and Mary’s landlady and best friend. Jenny Slate is Mary’s teacher, Bonnie, a young woman whose concern for her student develops into a connection with her uncle as well.
