First Trailer for James Franco’s Adaptation of ‘The Sound and the Fury’

James Franco’s Adaptation

New Films International has released the first trailer for James Franco‘s adaptation of William Faulkner‘s iconic novel The Sound and the Fury. An Oscar-nominated movie star and general all-around weirdo also stars in the film, alongside Seth Rogen, Danny McBride, Scott Haze, Ahna O’Reilly, Joey King, and Tim Blake Nelson.

The film had its world premiere at the 72nd Venice International Film Festival, and now it’s finally getting a theatrical release.

A Franco/Rogen/McBride movie that is a straight-up serious drama tells the tale of a southern family in decline. It was not the first time he’s tackling Faulker. He previously released As I Lay Dying in 2013 and this looks like a part of Franco’s continuing efforts to establish himself as a director. Well, at least you can’t fault him for lacking ambition. Hopefully he matures as a filmmaker.

The Sound and the Fury had a small theatrical release last week and is available On Demand now. Check it out below.

Well, this makes me unhappy. Seemed like they stumbled onto the wrong set and just stayed.

James Franco's Adaptation

The Sound and the Fury is a film based on the Nobel Prize winning book of the same name published in 1929 set in Jefferson, Mississippi. The novel centers around the Compson Family, former Southern aristocrats who are struggling to deal with the dissolution of their family and its reputation. Over the course of thirty years, the family falls into financial ruin, loses its religious faith and the respect of the town of Jefferson. Many of them die tragically.
