First Trailer for Netflix’s Original Series MARCO POLO


Netflix has debuted the first trailer for their new original series Marco Polo, which bows December 12 on their streaming service.

Judging by the trailer, the 10-episode drama will bring as much nudity and violence as HBO’s Game of Thrones to sate your desires while an adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s dragons saga is off the air.

Italian actor Lorenzo Richelmy stars as the eponymous explorer Polo and Chinese actress Zhu Zhu as his love interest.

The story focuses on Polo’s adventures in Kublai Kahn’s court in 13th century China. You know, the origin story of everyone’s favorite swimming pool game.

Kon-Tiki helmers Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) directed the first two hours and also serve as exec producers.

John Fusco (Game of Thrones) created this period show which also stars Benedict Wong, Joan Chen, Chin Han, Olivia Cheng, Claudia Kim, Mahesh Jadu, Tom Wu, Remy Hii, Uli Latukefu and Rick Yune.
