First Trailer for Sci-Fi Spoof SPACE STATION 76

The upcoming movie Space Station 76 is comedian Jack Plotnick’s feature directorial debut, starring Patrick Wilson (Insidious) and Liv Tyler (LOTR Trilogy). The retro-style comedy which pokes fun at a 1970’s-version of the future took a bow at SXSW earlier this year.

It’s clear that Space Station 76 treats classic 70’s sci-fi with respect and love. An R-rated comedy spoof is reportedly way smarter than the trailer portrays it. Judging by the trailer below, looks like they took cues from the TV show Space: 1999.

However, Space Station 76 is a tricky one to pull off. Also starring Marisa Coughlan, Matt Bomer, Jerry O’Connell and Kylie Rogers, the film will be released by Sony. We expect it out this year.

Check out the trailer and poster for the film with an intentional B-movie approach to the future of the past.

Space Station 76″ is a comedic drama about a group of people (and several robots) living on a space station in a 1970’s-version of the future. When a new Assistant Captain arrives, she inadvertently ignites tensions among the crew, prompting them to confront their darkest secrets. Barely contained lust, jealousy, and anger all bubble to the surface, becoming just as dangerous as the asteroid that’s heading right for them.
