First Trailer for Sean Penn’s Cannes Drama ‘The Last Face’
The first trailer for Sean Penn‘s controversial Cannes entry The Last Face has arrived online, featuring Charlize Theron and Javier Bardem as two doctors falling in love amidst war-torn West Africa.
The film received some of the worst reviews from critics while others joked that it may explain the demise of Penn and Theron’s real-life romance. Also starring Adèle Exarchopoulos, Jean Reno and Jared Harris, the drama will be released in theaters sometime in 2017, via Saban Films.
The Last Face is scheduled to open on January 11, 2017 in France, however, so watch the first international trailer below.
The Last Face centers around a love affair between Dr. Miguel Leon (Academy Award® winner, Javier Bardem), a relief-aid doctor, and Dr. Wren Petersen (Academy Award® winner, Charlize Theron), the director of an international aid organization.
Set against the devastating backdrop of war-torn Liberia, Miguel and Wren must find a way to keep their relationship alive in extraordinarily difficult conditions battling their mutual passion for the value of life matched by the intensity of their diametrically opposed opinions on how best to solve the conflict that surrounds them.
