First Trailer for Sundance Comedy GRANDMA

Lily Tomlin And Julie Garner

Take a look at the first trailer for the Sundance-anointed comedy-drama Grandma, a real story about real people for real audiences.

Lily Tomlin (Nashville) shines as the acerbic septuagenarian who happens to be a lesbian poet. In the clip, we see she finds out her 18-year-old granddaughter (Julie Garner) is pregnant and needs help.

Written and directed by About a Boy filmmaker Paul Weitz, the movie also co-stars Marcia Gay Harden, Judy Greer, Laverne Cox, Nat Wolff, John Cho and Sam Elliott.

Grandma will be distributed by Sony Pictures Classics in select cities starting Aug. 21. Watch the trailer below.

It looks great. I need for Tomlin to win an Oscar.

Lily Tomlin is Elle Reid. Elle has just gotten through breaking up with her girlfriend when Elle’s granddaughter Sage unexpectedly shows up needing $600 bucks before sundown. Temporarily broke, Grandma Elle and Sage spend the day trying to get their hands on the cash as their unannounced visits to old friends and flames end up rattling skeletons and digging up secrets.
