First Trailer for Tim Sutton’s Theater-Shooting Drama ‘Dark Night’
The arthouse distributor Cinelicious Pics has released the first trailer for Tim Sutton‘s Dark Night, the upcoming impressionistic drama that unfolds over one summer night where tragedy soon becomes a bracing reality.
The film follows 6 new actors – one of the six is the shooter, on one fateful day which left 12 people died and 70 injured in Aurora, Colorado.
Starring Robert Jumper, Anna Rose Hopkins, Rosie Rodriguez, Karina Macias, Aaron Purvis, and Eddie Cacciola, Dark Night debuted at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival and will open in New York on February 3, 2017 (other cities to follow). Watch the trailer below.
A haunting, artfully understated critique of American gun culture, Tim Sutton’s third feature is loosely based around the 2012 massacre in Aurora, Colorado that took place during a multiplex screening of “The Dark Knight Rises.” Employing a mesmerizing documentary-style technique and a cast of non-professional actors, DARK NIGHT follows the activities of six strangers over the course of one day, from sunrise to midnight, the shooter among them.
