First Trailers for Abel Ferrara’s PASOLINI Biopic

Two trailers debut for Abel Ferrara’s upcoming biopic of Pier Paolo Pasolini ahead of its upcoming Venice Film Festival premiere on September 4.

The film stars Willem Dafoe who is perfectly cast as the acclaimed Italian filmmaker, poet and journalist alongside Riccardo Scamarcio, Ninetto Davoli, Valerio Mastandrea, Maria de Medeiros and Adriana Asti.

The biopic explores Pasolini on “the last day of his life” with scenes Ferrara shot from Pasolini’s last projects, the unfinished manuscript Petrolio and the screenplay Porno-Teo-Kolossal.

Hit the jump to watch two new trailers for Pasolini below. The biographical drama film will stop by TIFF on September 8 and NYFF on October 2.

The film follows Pasolini’s final days prior to his murder in November 1975, when he was run over several times with his own car. A male prostitute later confessed to the murder, but then retracted his confession almost thirty years later, saying his family had been threatened and that Pasolini’s death was politically motivated. In a film dreamlike and visionary, blending reality and imagination, it reconstructs the last day in the life of this great poet.
