First WILD Trailer Stars Reese Witherspoon

Fox Searchlight has released the trailer for Wild, the new film from Jean-Marc Vallee – director of the Oscar-winning Dallas Buyers Club – a drama adapted from Cheryl Strayed‘s memoirs, starring Reese Witherspoon.

Scripted by Nick Hornby (High Fidelity), Wild is a personal account of Strayed’s (Witherspoon) journey of self-discovery while hiking the Pacific Crest Trail after her mother’s death from cancer, the dissolution of her marriage, and a problem with heroin.

A gritty Oscar-bait that will make you cry also stars Laura Dern, Michiel Huisman, Gaby Hoffman, Thomas Sadoski, and Kevin Rankin.

Wild also has an Oscar-friendly December 5th release date.

With the dissolution of her marriage and the death of her mother, Cheryl Strayed (Reese Witherspoon) has lost all hope. After years of reckless, destructive behavior, she makes a rash decision. With absolutely no experience, driven only by sheer determination, Cheryl hikes more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, alone. WILD powerfully captures the terrors and pleasures of one young woman forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddens, strengthens, and ultimately heals her.
