Forest Whitaker has Joined ROGUE ONE

Academy Award-winning actor Forest Whitaker has reportedly joined the first Star Wars Anthology film, Rogue One.

Whitaker will join a cast that already includes Felicity Jones, Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna and Ben Mendelsohn. Unfortunately, we don’t have the details of his role. Jones, Ahmed and Luna play Rebel characters with Mendelsohn tipped as a villain.

Gareth Edwards is directing Star Wars: Rogue One set to bow December 16, 2016. The film will take place between Episode III and Episode IV, but closer chronologically to A New Hope and it’s rumored to be similar to the Vietnam War film Hamburger Hill.

The official synopsis goes like this:

A rogue band of resistance fighters unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans in Star Wars anthology film, ROGUE ONE.

In related news, Whitaker is also in talks to join the cast of The Crow remake. He’ll shoot a role in the Jack Huston-starring comic book movie in the fall before jumping into production on Rogue One.
