Foxx Says Scorsese is Directing His UNTITLED MIKE TYSON MOVIE

Untitled Mike Tyson Movie

Last summer it was announced that Terence Winter (“Boadrwalk Empire,” The Wolf of Wall Street) was writing the Untitled Mike Tyson Movie for Academy Award-winner Jamie Foxx (Ray).

We haven’t heard anything else about Mike Tyson biopic, but the actor/singer recently appeared on Power 105’s The Breakfast Club and spilled the beans about the forthcoming movie and revealed that Martin Scorsese will actually be directing the Tyson flick.

“I just went in with Paramount with Mike Tyson. So I’m going to do the Mike Tyson story. Listen, to be in the same room pitching Mike Tyson to Paramount, Mike Tyson is on one side, I’m on the other side and doing Mike Tyson at the same time. And Martin Scorsese at the helm. This will be the first boxing movie that Martin Scorsese has done since Raging Bull.”

The actor gives the gist of what this story will be like as he says it’s

“the story of the guy who at 18 years old had $60 million in his pocket and everybody’s trying to get and now the grown guy who sits back and reflects on the whole thing, like, the money was the downfall.”

Listen in to the entire interview below:

Straight from the leading actors mouth. I agree that it’s his physical presence that’s more of a concern than character traits which I think Foxx should be able to mimic with some aplomb. Robert De Niro worked over a year with Jake La Motta, doing over a 1000 rounds of sparring. I would expect Jamie to put in a similar effort.
