Full-Length Trailer for ‘Dad’s Army’

Universal Pictures UK has released the full-length trailer for the big-screen take on the classic BBC sitcom “Dad’s Army” that ran from 1968 to 1977.

The Oliver Parker (Johnny English Reborn) directed movie features Toby Jones, Bill Nighy, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael Gambon, Mark Gatiss, Tom Courtenay and Sarah Lancashire.

Dad’s Army opens in the United Kingdom on February 5th, 2016. The trailer sees Zeta-Jones as the glamorous reporter Rose Winters who causes a stir when she arrives to write an article about the home guard and attracts plenty of attention from the local men. Watch below.

Incredible cast and I loved the TV show, so why isn’t this trailer getting me excited for the spin-off? Maybe it is just one unfunny trailer.

It is 1944 and World War II is reaching its climax. The Allies are poised to invade France and finally defeat the German army. But in Walmington-on-Sea morale amongst the Home Guard is low. Their new mission then – to patrol the Dover army base – is a great chance to revive spirits and reputation, that is until glamorous journalist Rose Winters arrives to write about their exploits, setting the pulses racing and putting the local women on red alert. MI5 then discover a radio signal sent direct to Berlin from Walmington-on-Sea. There’s a spy on the loose! The outcome of the war is suddenly at stake, and it falls to our unlikely heroes to stand up and be counted.
