Fast & Furious 6 and Haywire star Gina Carano will reportedly join the cast of Kickboxer reboot in the role of a fight promoter. The MMA fighter turned actress will co-star in the the new take on the 1989 martial arts actioner alongside the original film’s Jean-Claude Van Damme and soon-to-be James Bond villain Dave Bautista.

A “gender-bender twist from the original” has already added to its roster of fighting and acting talent former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre (Bartoc from Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and stunt man turned actor Alain Moussi (X-Men: Days of Future Past) replacing JCVD in the title role.

The cast also includes  model turned actress Sara Malakul Lane, who is playing Kurt Sloane’s love interest. Directed by John Stockwell (Cat Run) from a script by Dimitri Logothetis and Jim McGrath, the flick follows Kurt Sloan (Moussi) who travels to Thailand to learn the art of kickboxing so he can avenge the death of his brother at the hands of Bautista’s character Tong Po.

Kickboxer remake is shooting in New Orleans, Louisiana and Thailand. There’s no release date set yet.

I like Carano’s physique and the fighting skills. There’s something very sexy about her. Even though Gina still got to learn a lot acting-wise, her participation makes this even more exciting in my opinion.
