GREEN LANTERN: Chris Pine Rumored for Hal Jordan

Actor Rumored For Hal Jordan

Tuesday afternoon rumors have surfaced that DC is already looking into its next Hal Jordan a.k.a. Green Lantern and it’s not Ryan Reynolds .

We already learned that Green Lantern is getting another chance at the big screen in 2020, thanks to Warner Bros.’ new DC Cinematic Universe. For some time comic book-related rumors have suggested that fans will get their first look at the new Green Lantern at the end of Justice League Part One in 2017, before he gets a stand-alone reboot in 2020. Fast franchise star Tyrese Gibson has expressed interest in taking the role.

Now Umberto “El Mayimbe” Gonzalez of Latino Review has offered an update, and the name he’s heard “floating around” is Chris Pine, the current Star Trek franchise’s Captain Kirk.

Taking to Instagram, he captioned a photo with the following:

“The name I keep hearing & floating around, is Chris Pine for Hal Jordan. Yes, Captain Kirk. Again, this is still just a RUMOR hence UNCONFIRMED. Been hunting this one for a while so the search is still ongoing.”

When CBR News asked Warner Bros. for confirmation, the studio declined to comment.

Ironically enough, Deadpool star Reynolds has won the title role over Pine in Warner Bros. 2011 version of Green Lantern, which underperformed at box office than expected. I agree that Reynolds was not the issue, the script and the producers were.

Pine would be awesome choice if they really do go that route. He can be funny but serious and cold when he needs to be. But I’d rather believe and like to think the Green Lantern solo film should focus more on the Corps rather than one specific character. Only time will tell.

A Green Lantern reboot is set for June 19th, 2020.
