Chris-Pratt- Peter-Quill-Guardians

UPDATE: A new extended version of the TV spot — a full minute long, rather than 30 seconds — aired during the NBA Finals last night. Check it out below.

While Marvel has yet to resolve Ant-Man issue, the good news is that James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy opens soon and a brand new TV spot just dropped today to remind us of that fact.

“Our world is facing an unstoppable threat…send in the Guardians!”

insists Nova Prime Rael (Glenn Close).

It also features a thief (Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill), two thugs (Rocket Raccoon and the tree-like Groot, voiced by Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel), an assassin (Zoe Saldana as the deadly Gamora), and a maniac (Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer).

Everyone’s tastes are different. I, personally, think that this one (which will air on ABC during tonight’s NBA Finals game) isn’t as good as the first two.

Also starring Benicio Del Toro, Karen Gillan, Lee Pace, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Peter Serafinowicz, and Michael Rooker, Guardians opens in 3D on August 1st.

And as you know, Josh Brolin got tapped for *SPOLIERS AHEAD* the Thanos role and will appear in the opening act of James Gunn’s film as the puppet master for Ronan the Accuser (Pace) and Nebula (Gillan).

Watch the newly released TV spot below.

Not a lot of new footage, but this spot looks way better.

An action-packed epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits – Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand – with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.
