Gyllenhaal, Dano to Join Bong Joon-ho’s ‘Okja’

Gyllenhaal And Dano And Swinton

This might be good: Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Bill Nighy and Kelly MacDonald are reportedly in various stages of discussions to join Tilda Swinton in Okja, the new monster movie by Bong Joo-ho, the Korean director of Snowpiercer.

The upcoming bilingual movie is expected to feature a Korean female lead and a host of English-language supporting actors, of course. As of this writing, there is very little information on the film’s plot, except that the story is said to revolve around a rural girl from Korea who travels between her country and the United States.

Some reports suggest early pre-production work has already begin ahead of a shoot that will begin in April next year. Having a recognizable name talents in a film such as Gyllenhaal and Dano can certainly help Bong Joon-ho’s next project, but the best part is that the Weinsteins will not be involved this time.

Okja is expected to be completed in the first or second quarter of 2017.
