“Hannibal” Star Mads Mikkelsen to Play Villain in ‘Doctor Strange’

Mikkelsen To Play Villain

Variety is reporting that “Hannibal” star Mads Mikkelsen is in early talks to play one of the villains in Marvel’s Doctor Strange, opposite Benedict Cumberbatch.

Whoever Mikkelsen plays in the film (Dormammu or Mephisto or someone else), he won’t be the only villain in the Scott Derrickson film, scripted by Jon Spaihts. Chiwetel Ejiofor will be playing Baron Mordo, the film’s other ostensible villain. Tilda Swinton is set to play Strange’s mentor The Ancient One, while Rachel McAdams has also been rumored for an as of yet unconfirmed role. Well, the cast of this movie is getting super European.

No offer has been officially delivered, but a contract is expected to be signed shortly. Marvel had no comment on Mikkelsen’s involvement. The actor was also recently announced as part of the Star Wars Anthology film, Rogue One.
