‘Hellboy’ Reboot: Daniel Dae Kim to Play Major Ben Daimio

Neil Marshall's Reboot

After Ed Skrein dropped out of Lionsgate’s Hellboy reboot starring David Harbour, following controversy over whitewashing a character of Japanese descent, a new report says that the studio is currently in talks with “Lost” and “Hawaii Five-0” star Daniel Dae Kim to play the role of Major Ben Daimio.

Should the deal close, the Korean-American actor will play Daimio, described as “a rugged military member of the bureau of paranormal research and defense who, due to a supernatural encounter, can turn into a jaguar when angered or in pain.”

Hellboy is based on a script by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden, and Mike Mignola, and is set to begin filming later this month. Also appearing in Neil Marshall’s movie are Ian Mcshane, Milla Jovovich, Sasha Lane, and Penelope Mitchell. [Heat Vision]
