J.K. Rowling Posts New HARRY POTTER Story Online

Seven years after the publication of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, famed Potter author J.K. Rowling penned a new short Harry Potter tale and posted it on the Pottermore website on Tuesday morning.

Bajillion-selling scribe returned to Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, and Luna, now in their 30s, sending them to the Patagonian Desert for the Quidditch World Cup to coincide with the World Cup in Brazil.

The story is written in the voice of vicious Daily Prophet gossip reporter Rita Skeeter, a minor character in the novels and is available to read at Pottermore.com. If you don’t want to create a Pottermore account, the full text of Rowling’s story has been reprinted over at Today.

And you can also check out character-by-character rundown below (via /Film):

Harry still has his signature glasses, though his black hair now has “threads of silver” in it. He’s also “sporting a nasty cut over his right cheekbone,” perhaps as a consequence of his work as an Auror.

Ginny has been away from her and Harry’s London home reporting on the Quidditch World Cup for the Prophet.

Ron, “whose famous ginger hair appears to be thinning slightly,” left his job as an Auror after two years to help George manage Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes.

Hermione is currently the Deputy Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and is poised to rise even higher in her career. But her hair is still non-Skeeter-approved. She and Ron are still married, even if Rowling not-so-secretly thinks Hermione would’ve been better off with Harry.

Neville Longbottom lives above the Leaky Cauldron in London with his wife Hannah Abbott. He’s an Herbology professor at Hogwarts, and she’s had Healer training and is gunning for the Matron job at Hogwarts.

Luna remains “delightfully eccentric” and has married Rolf Scamander, the “swarthy” grandson of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them author Newt Scamander. They have twin sons.

Dragon wrangler Charlie Weasley is still unmarried, Percy Weasley is Head of the Department of Magical Transportation, and Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour are still married.

Victor Krum is serving as Seeker for the Bulgarian Quidditch team.

Teddy Lupin (son of Tonks and Remus) and Victoire Weasley (daughter of Bill and Fleur) are totally doing it.

It’s a vast universe and there are more stories to be told despite the fact that the last chapter of the last book sucked.
