James Wan Eyed to Direct Jason Momoa in AQUAMAN

DC Cinematic Universe

THR broke the news that Warner Bros. is eager to snag Furious 7 director James Wan from Universal and get him behind the camera for Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa.

The studio seems keen on getting an early start on it as we are more than three years away from seeing the first big screen iteration of the aquatic superhero hit movie theaters.

Aquaman, set for release on July 27th, 2018 is being developed as two separate scripts, one by Will Beall (Gangster Squad) and another by Kurt Johnstad (300: Rise of an Empire).

Momoa will debut as the underwater breathing hero in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and will be back for Justice League: Part One before he gets his own movie.

In the meantime, Wan is committed to shooting The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist set for a June 10, 2016 release and Universal still could bring him back for Furious 8. He’s a very good choice and should fit nicely with DC’s dark gritty style. This news gives me more hope for the DC cinematic universe. Let’s see how this turns out.
