Jamie Foxx to Play Mike Tyson in Untitled Biopic

Untitled Mike Tyson Movie

Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx (Ray) is looking to take on another well-known personality as he enters the boxing ring to play the former heavyweight world champion “Iron” Mike Tyson in an as-yet untitled biopic.

Terence Winter of The Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire and The Wolf of Wall Street fame is set to pen the script. There isn’t a director yet, but the film will be produced by Rick Yorn.

It’s unknown at this time which parts of Tyson’s life the Untitled Mike Tyson Movie will focus on as  Winter has a plenty of material to cover over the past three decades, including a six-year stint in prison after being found guilty of rape, his 2003 bankruptcy and the death of his young daughter.

The 48-year-old boxer told the Daily Mirror:

“Me and Jamie Foxx are in discussion, and we gonna do it. Within a year to 18 months, we’re going to do the Mike Tyson story and he’s going to portray me.”

Tyson also said filmmaker Martin Scorsese is involved.

You might already know, but in case you haven’t, Michael Jai White starred as the fighter in HBO’s 1995 TV movie Tyson, and James Toback directed the documentary Tyson in 2009, but it will be the first feature-length biopic centering on his life.

Foxx who already entered the world of boxing by playing the corner man for Muhammad Ali, in Ali, would just have to put on a lot of muscle this time.
