Jason Momoa in Talks to Join MGM’s MAGNIFICENT SEVEN

The Magnificent Seven

According to THR, Jason Momoa is in talks to join the cast of MGM and Sony’s Western The Magnificent Seven opposite Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt and Ethan Hawke.

And Deadline is reporting that Terminator Genisys Byung-hun Lee has also joined the ensemble cast in the role of Billy Rocks. Both actors are fine additions to an already great cast that also includes Vincent D’Onofrio, Haley Bennett, Wagner Moura and Luke Grimes, with Antoine Fuqua directing.

Momoa, a veteran of Game of Thrones and the future Aquaman, would play one of the villains in the remake which is said to feature a victimized mining town, taken over by a gold baron, rather than the Mexican village of the original. The new Magnificent Seven script is written by John Lee Hancock and Nic Pizzolatto (“True Detective”).

John Sturges’ 1960 original, itself a remake of Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 classic Seven Samurai, follows seven American gunfighters hired to protect a small Mexican village from bandits.
