Javier Bardem Eyes Villainous Role in PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5

According to various outlets, Johnny Depp’s Capt. Jack  Sparrow appears to have found a new foe in the form of 007’s latest nemesis Javier Bardem.

Bardem would reportedly play a ghost pirate named Captain Brand who blames Sparrow for the death of his brother and is searching for a supernatural object to aid him.

Christoph Waltz was previously rumored for the role, but probably dropped given the delay of the film. What a relief.

Disney’s fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie, sometimes referred to as Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, will be filmed in Queensland, Australia and is likely to feature the return of Bardem’s wife, Penelope Cruz as Angelica.

Geoffrey Rush is also supposed to return in the franchise as Captain Barbosa and rumor is that Orlando Bloom might be making a return appearance as Will Turner.

The long-in-development sequel will be directed by Kon-Tiki duo Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, and Disney have officially set it for release on July 7th, 2017 release. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has a reported budget of more than $200 million. Production will begin in January with the studio still looking for a young male to join Depp in what would be the equivalent of the Bloom role from the first three installments.

Oh yeah. Almost forgot to mention there’s a word of a female lead for the film, a woman who is accused of being a witch, and who would be the romantic interest for Jack Sparrow. The horse is still moving.
