Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson Join the Cast of ‘Assassin’s Creed’ Movie

Jeremy Irons And Brendan Gleeson

Deadline reports that Jeremy Irons and Brendan Gleeson are joining the formidable cast of Assassin’s Creed movie, set to release late next year. Things are looking really good for AC.

Justin Kurzel‘s (Macbeth) video game adaptation stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. Irons will be playing the father of Cotillard’s character, while Gleeson plays Fassbender character’s dad.

Since Fassbender is playing two characters, Callum Lynch in the present day and his ancestor Aguilar in 15th century Spain, it’s unclear exactly which character Gleeson will be a father to.

Michael Kenneth Williams, and Ariane Labed also star. Bill Collage, Adam Cooper and Michael Lesslie scripted. Based on the popular Ubisoft videogames series, the film will follow Lynch as he unlocks his genetic memories that allow him to relive the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar and gain the skills and knowledge needed to battle the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day.

Assassin’s Creed is scheduled to hit theaters on December 21, 2016.
