Jesse Eisenberg Almost Played a Different ‘Batman v Superman’ Role

Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice

Let’s talk a bit about Jesse Eisenberg‘s casting and Zack Snyder’s superhero sequel Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, one of the most anticipated movies of the year.

We’re officially less than three months away from the big screen release and Snyder has dropped a few teases about the much-anticipated DC Comics superhero showdown in a new interview with the L.A. Times:

“Let’s call it a secret, but nevertheless it was the exact opposite of Lex Luthor. I feel like once [Jesse Eisenberg] found out who Lex was he embraced it. Once you kind of start digging into Lex, it’s a bit of a scary thing to be that guy. I don’t think he just goes ‘Oh, I’ll just be that guy and then when I go home I’m not him.’ I think the thing with Jesse is he wasn’t immune to the reality of playing a super-scary character.”

Weird. That means it has to be a good guy.

However, Snyder stated that they looked at “the usual suspects that you’d imagine for Lex,” but ultimately he had Chris Terrio alter the script and cast Eisenberg.

Hmm… that means trying its hardest to sell Lex Luthorberg. Given that the last trailer pretty much reveals the entire plot of the film, Snyder should quit moaning. I worry that he’s officially style over substance. Eisenberg as Lex Luthor is probably the most horrific casting of all time so I think, in the movie, we are meant to hate him.

Well, little humor never hurts. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25th.

Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice

Following his titanic struggle against General Zod, Metropolis has been razed to the ground and Superman is the most controversial figure in the world. While for many he is still an emblem of hope, a growing number of people consider him a threat to humanity, seeking justice for the chaos he has brought to Earth.

As far as Bruce Wayne is concerned, Superman is clearly a danger to society. He fears for the future of the world with such a reckless power left ungoverned, and so he dons his mask and cape to right Superman’s wrongs. The rivalry between them is furious, fueled by bitterness and vengeance, and nothing can dissuade them from waging this war. However, a dark new threat arises in the form of a third man: one who has a power greater than either of them to endanger the world and cause total destruction.

The superhero stand-off that the world has been waiting for is finally arriving in cinemas, with an all-star cast bringing to life the characters we all love. Zack Snyder (300) returns as director following the huge success of 2013’s Man of Steel, along with Henry Cavill (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) in the role of Superman. Also starring Ben Affleck (Gone Girl) as Batman, Amy Adams (American Hustle) as Lois Lane, and Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 7) as Wonder Woman, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is an explosive, action-packed blockbuster that is sure to thrill DC fans everywhere.
