Jesse Plemons and More Join Tom Cruise in Doug Liman’s MENA

Doug Liman's Suspense Comedy

Jesse Plemons, Caleb Landry Jones, Jayma Mays, Benito Martinez, E. Roger Mitchell, Alejandro Edda and Lola Kirke are joining Tom Cruise’s suspense-comedy Mena, and the previously announced Sarah Wright and Domnhall Gleeson.

The upcoming film reunites Cruise with Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman who recently started shooting in Georgia.

Cruise stars as real-life U.S. figure Barry Seal, drug smuggler and former TWA pilot who is unexpectedly recruited through the CIA to run one of the biggest covert operations in American history, the one which helped create the Medellin cartel and one that nearly brought down the Regan White House administration through the Iran-Contra affair.

I love stories of improbable heroes working against the system, and Barry Seal took the government, and our country, for an unbelievable ride. Interpreting his story has the makings for an entertaining film that is equal parts satire, suspense, and comedy—and always surprising,” Liman said in a statement.

Mena opens January 6, 2017. (Umm, that January release date is not very encouraging.)
