JOHN CARTER Star Taylor Kitsch Offered Lead in THE RAID Remake

Taylor Kitsch has reportedly been offered the lead role in the Hollywood remake of The Raid. Frank Grillo, the Crossbones of Captain America: The Winter Soldier has already signed on to star.

None of a desired stars like Luke Evans, Anthony Mackie, and Ethan Hawke have been cast. Instead, Battleship star Kitsch has an offer for the lead role in the action remake that will be helmed by The Expendables 3 director, Patrick Hughes.

The plan is to shoot in January 2015, from a script by Brad Ingelsby (Run All Night) that will closely follow the plot of the original film, which followed an elite DEA FAST team as it infiltrated an apartment block run by gangsters.

Gareth Evans will executive produce the project with the original film’s fight choreographers also attached.

The physical standards set by Iko Uwais and the rest of the original cast are really difficult to achieve. Despite being a skilled actor, Kitsch will have to work impossibly hard to meet these requirements.

Meanwhile, Kitsch’s team has been pushing Nic Pizzolatto, the writer/creator of the HBO series, True Detective to cast him as the young male lead of the second season alongside Colin Farrell. There’s a chance he may end up doing both.

This guy is a little underrated and I hope he continues to get work.

No release date is set for The Raid remake.
