John Sayles to Direct ‘Django Lives’ with Franco Nero As the Title Character

Vigilante Union Soldier

Showbiz 411 reports that John Sayles (Men with Guns) is set to write and direct the spaghetti western sequel Django Lives, which will star Franco Nero (Die Hard 2) as the vigilante Union soldier once more.

I’m very pleased Sayles has decided to direct it. He’s one of the few American cinema heroes and is so underrated. Just please keep Shia LaBeouf away.

The film is set 50 years after the first movie and will be the third to star Italian actor Franco Nero as the title character and, of course, it won’t be connected to Quentin Tarantino‘s Django Unchained that shined a major light back on the series.

Django is now a horse handler working on the set of D.W. Griffith’s controversial The Birth of a Nation. No further details has been announced for the third installment of the Django series, but I will be keeping my eyes open for this one.
