John Williams to Score ‘Indiana Jones 5’ and ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’

A Prolific Composer

A prolific and respected film music composer, John Williams has confirmed to Variety that he will compose the scores for both sequels from director Steven Spielberg and Rian Johnson.

Williams’ themes for Rey and Kylo Ren (Episode VII) are very good, not to mention the classic scores he brought back for the film. He isn’t what he once was but I still enjoy his work quite a bit.

Spielberg also told Access Hollywood’s Scott Mantz that Williams would return for a fifth go-round scoring the adventures of Dr. Jones.

Indiana Jones 5 sees Spielberg directing with Harrison Ford reprising his role as the iconic character. David Koepp is writing the screenplay for the film, which releases on July 19, 2019.

Meanwhile, Star Wars: Episode VIII is written and directed by Johnson and stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis. New cast members includes Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern and Kelly Marie Tran. It releases on December 15, 2017.
