Is Johnny Depp in Kevin Smith’s TUSK?

When asked by “dirt-seeking” journalist if he’s working on any other movies right now, actor Justin Long casually mentioned that Transcendence star Johnny Depp was in Kevin Smith‘s upcoming modern-day monster movie, Tusk.

Yeah, the one where a man turns into a war horse. It’s called Tusk. Johnny Depp is in that one. I’m working on something coming up later.

Smith had previously sent out the following tweet, revealing that he had landed a big name to play a bit part, with a maximum of two days shooting.

The rumor is that Depp is probably playing the role of a French-Canadian inspector named Guy Lapointe who investigates the bizarre case of a man trapped in a walrus costume.

Genesis Rodriguez and Haley Joel Osment co-star, while Long plays a journalist named Wallace who finds the story of a lifetime in Mr. Howe (Michael Parks), an adventurer with amazing tales and a curious penchant for walruses.

The modern-day monster movie is co-written by Smith, Sam Englebardt, David Greathouse and Shannon McIntosh.

Tusk reportedly comes to theaters in 2014, but wouldn’t be finished in time for the Sundance Film Festival.
