Johnny Depp to Headline Edgar Wright’s ‘Fortunately, the Milk’

Johnny Depp And Edgar Wright

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Edgar Wright and Johnny Depp are teaming up to bring Neil Gaiman’s (“Sandman” graphic novel series) time-travel tale “Fortunately, the Milk” to the big screen.

Depp will star and produce the picture, while Wright will direct from a script penned by Bret McKenzie (“Flight of the Conchords,” the Muppets movies).

The novel is a whimsical tale of a father who leaves one morning to buy some milk and returns home with fantastic stories that include aliens, pirates, dinosaurs and, of course, time travel and cereal.

I think that McKenzie’s sense of humor will match well with Wright’s directorial style, and Depp could be effective with a director of Wright’s caliber. An interesting mix of talents. The concept generally sounds fun. Kids will be thrilled.

“I bought the milk,” said my father. “I walked out of the corner shop, and heard a noise like this: t h u m m t h u m m. I looked up and saw a huge silver disc hovering in the air above Marshall Road.”

“Hullo,” I said to myself. “That’s not something you see every day. And then something odd happened.”

Find out just how odd things get in this hilarious New York Times bestselling story of time travel and breakfast cereal, expertly told by Newbery Medalist and bestselling author Neil Gaiman and illustrated by Skottie Young. (Via Amazon)
