Johnny Knoxville, Tony Shalhoub Voice Cast of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES

“Hi, I’m Leonardo, welcome to Jackass!” Sounds familiar? In point of fact, Jackass king Johnny Knoxville has been added to voice the Turtle’s katana-wielding leader Leonardo and Tony Shalhoub (Monk) will voice the sensei Splinter.

Pete Ploszek and Danny Woodburn played the respective roles in performance capture, but Paramount was always clear that recasting voices was an option.

Whether this means director Jonathan Liebesman is happy with what Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Jeremy Howard as Donatello and Noel Fisher as Michelangelo delivered for those characters, remains to be seen.

To be honest Knoxville isn’t exactly known for his voice talents and lending him to Leonardo is kind of odd. The former star of Monk as the turtles’ giant rat mentor makes more sense.

The reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles also stars Megan Fox as April O’Neil, William Fichtner as The Shredder, Will Arnett is a wisecracking cameraman named Vernon Fenwick and Whoopi Goldberg plays an editor at Channel 6 News, Bernadette Thompson. The flick opens August 8.
