Jon Bernthal to Play Punisher for “Daredevil” Season 2

Netflix Season 2

“The Walking Dead” star Jon Bernthal has joined the upcoming second season of Netflix’s “Daredevil” as The Punisher, one of Marvel’s most popular characters.

According to the Marvel Television’s official description, Frank Castle aka The Punisher is, “a vigilante who aims to clean up New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen by any means necessary, no matter how lethal the results.”

Jeph Loeb, the head of television production for Marvel Studios, said in their announcement,

“Jon Bernthal brings an unmatched intensity to every role he takes on, with a potent blend of power, motivation and vulnerability that will connect with audiences. Castle’s appearance will bring dramatic changes to the world of Matt Murdock and nothing will be the same.”

Marvel did not specify if The Punisher would be friend or villain to Daredevil in the Netflix series, but the bullet-riddled logo (above) implies the latter. I can definitely see Bernthal bringing the pain as Punisher. Looks like season 2 is going to really earn that TV-MA rating.

Bernthal, who has also appeared on the big screen in The Wolf of Wall Street and Fury, took to Twitter to share his excitement:

The second season of “Daredevil” is set to debut in 2016. Charlie Cox and Rosario Dawson will both return, as the title character and Claire Temple. A premiere date has yet to be announced. I’m on board with this.
