Jon Favreau’s CHEF First Clip

Jon Favreau’s comedy Chef releases a promo clip in advance of its first trailer. Let me be honest in saying that you won’t see any Marvel superheroes in Chef. The fact of the matter is the film marks Favreau’s return to non-fantasy film.

Also starring Sofia Vergara, John Leguizamo, Bobby Cannavale, Dustin Hoffman, Oliver Platt, Emjay Anthony, Scarlett Johansson, and Robert Downey, Jr., Chef premiered at South By Southwest 2014, Friday night.

The movie was written, directed and stars the Iron Man alum and I’m eager to hear first impressions of the film from the festival.

Verbal comedy with improvisation in the same vein as his indie comedy Swingers (1996) – which became a hit in art houses and on video, the film follows a chef who loses his restaurant job and decides to regroup and open a food truck that serves authentic Cuban sandwiches.

Chef hits theaters on May 9th.

Judging by this first preview, I’m certainly in for a fun time – not to mention such a heavyweight cast. How about you?

Chef Carl Casper (Favreau) suddenly quits his job at a prominent Los Angeles restaurant after refusing to compromise his creative integrity for its controlling owner (Hoffman), he is left to figure out what’s next. Finding himself in Miami, he teams up with his ex-wife (Vergara), his friend (Leguizamo) and his son to launch a food truck. Taking to the road, Chef Carl goes back to his roots to reignite his passion for the kitchen — and zest for life and love.
