Josh Brolin, George Clooney Reuniting with Coens for HAIL, CAESAR!

The Wrap broke the news that Coen Brothers will reunite with Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men, True Grit) and previously announced George Clooney (O Brother, Where Are Thou?, Burn After Reading) for their upcoming comedy, titled Hail, Caesar!.

The story focuses on Eddie Mannix, a fixer in 1950s Hollywood who works for the studios to protect the stars of the day.

It isn’t clear who they are portraying at this time, but Clooney has been attached to the pic for a while so one imagines he’ll play the fixer, a character “loosely based on Fred Otash, a spy who worked for Confidential Magazine, digging up dirt on all of the biggest celebrities using his wiretapping techniques.”

Unfortunately, there’s no word on what kind of character Brolin might be playing, neither when the picture will go into production. (Brolin could very well be one of the stars with a situation that requires fixing.) However, the film is rumored to kick off production this fall with Roger Deakins returning to shoot.

Brolin who worked with the Coens twice recently signed on to voice the villainous role of Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy and is in talks to co-star with Emily Blunt and Benicio del Toro in Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming thriller Sicario.

It’ll be the first time actors have paired up for a feature film and the fourth collaboration between the Coen brothers and Clooney who will next be seen in Tomorrowland. The actor’s slate is currently free.
