Josh Brolin Hints that AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is Thanos Against Everyone

Speaking to news outlets at a press junket for his latest movie, Inherent Vice, Josh Brolin briefly teases his future appearance as the Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.

The actor talked about what led to him landing the role of the Avengers-Guardians big bad in Marvel’s movie universe.

“I love the idea of Thanos,” he said to the reporters. “Ultimately, it’s Thanos against everyone. Why wouldn’t you do that? It’s a strange thing. I was more nervous doing that than I’ve been for a long time. I was more nervous doing that than anything I’ve done in a long time. I was sitting in front of 32 cameras and my face was sprayed with iridescent paint and all that. It was very, very different, but I like it. It’s fun. It’s different.”

Brolin was speaking of the motion capture work that goes into playing Thanos too, but I’d rather focus on how he came to play the Marvel villain. That’d be because of Marvel Studios co-president in the first place:

“I had a good friend Louis D’Esposito… and he and I used to train together,” he said, noting that D’Esposito is now a Marvel co-president. “He called me up and started talking about this thing. It was nice because I could intimately talk to him about it. What I liked. What I didn’t like about the whole idea of it. But I love the idea of Thanos.”

Let’s have a little fun instead. Here’s what optimisticApples said about it:

“At this point in Hollywood, with Marvel the juggernaut that it is, I imagine the conversation initially went:
D’Esposito: Look so I’ve got this Marvel part…
Brolin: Yes. I’ll do it

D’Esposito: It’s…
Brolin: I’ll do it.

D’Esposito: Thanos…
Brolin: Awesome. Would have played an inanimate rock. I’ll do it… I can tell people we had an intellectual discussion right?
D’Esposito: …Yeah go ahead.”

Very funny indeed. Marvel’s watching over them right now and Marvel’s successful. However, thank God for Brolin — Thanos could have been f*cking hokey and dumb. Avengers: Infinity War – Part I is scheduled to be released on May 4, 2018, with Part II scheduled for May 3, 2019. Iit’s rumored that they will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. Filming for Part I and Part II will reportedly begin in late 2015. It will be a long wait but worth it.
