Jude Law Goes Hunting for Nazi Gold in BLACK SEA Trailer

We just used to see Jude Law playing vulgar character with a slathered-on Cockney accent (Dom Hemingway), and now he goes Scottish in a new thriller from Oscar-winning director Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland).

Law, best known for his golden boy roles, recently transformed into a gold-toothed safe cracker to become an out-of-work submarine captain who searches for Nazi gold now.

The upcoming desperately gritty film Black Sea was written by Dennis Kelly (UK series Utopia) and marks another change of pace for the acclaimed Scottish director. However, looks like Macdonald is back on track with creating angst and tension. I couldn’t get through his last two movies, How I Live Now and The Eagle. I hope the narrative has some interesting twists.

Law is joined by a great cast of actors that includes Scoot McNairy, Ben Mendelsohn, Michael Smiley and David Threlfall.

This The Treasure of the Sierra Madre – esque thriller set underwater opens on January 23rd, 2015.

Black Sea centers on a rogue submarine captain (Jude Law) who, after being laid off from a salvage company, pulls together a misfit crew to go after a sunken treasure rumored to be lost in the depths of the Black Sea. As greed and desperation take control on board their claustrophobic vessel, the increasing uncertainty of the mission causes the men to turn on each other to fight for their own survival.
