Kelsey Grammer Hopes to Do Another X-MEN Movie

Following his brief cameo at the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past, the Frasier star Kelsey Grammer hopes that he gets to play Hank McCoy/Beast in future X-Men movies.

“I hope to do another. I hope they find some way to come up with a new story that involves Beast in my timeline.”

Grammer revealed that he personally called director Bryan Singer and asked to be involved:

“Actually I called Bryan. I bumped into Hugh Jackman and he said, ‘Oh you’re gonna be in another X-Men, mate!’ and I said, ‘No I’m not, I don’t know anything about it.’ So I made a couple of inquiries, got a hold of the script, found out that it’s primarily dealing with the past and that timeline I don’t have a place in, but I saw that at the end there was this coda where he made an appearance. I said, ‘Listen, I really wanna be involved,’ so Bryan arranged for it and I had a lovely time,”

he told Collider in a video embedded below.

The actor’s first and only other appearance as Beast was in the 2006 sequel X-Men: The Last Stand. 2011’s X-Men: First Class and the latest entry in the franchise, X-Men: Days of Future Past focused more on mutants’ younger counterparts, with Nicholas Hoult playing a young Beast.

What is known about the plot details of X-Men: Apocalypse so far is that movie will be following the First Class cast. The 2016 film would take place in the 1980s and – given the tease of the new timeline at the end of Days of Future Past – see James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence again as the central characters.

It’s possible that new world will be explored in some way and if Kelsey portray Dark Beast in the upcoming X-Men movie, this would allow Nicholas Hoult to reprise his role as the younger Hank McCoy as well.

Hopefully Kelsey will return, but with a bigger role in the story and not just a cameo like he had in Days of Future Past. Check him out reciting Shakespeare in deleted scene from X-Men 3:
