Kevin Smith announced today via social media the title of his upcoming Mallrats sequel and there won’t be a “2” at the end of it. The much-discussed Mallrats 2 is going by the title of MallBrats.

Smith’s most recent draft of the script clocks in 113 pages, but the sequel’s release date is still a mystery. He’s planning on shooting MallBrats later this year.

The filmmaker has so far confirmed that Jason Mewes (Jay), Jason Lee (Brodie), Stan Lee (Himself), Michael Rooker (Mr. Svenning), Shannen Doherty (Rene), Jeremy London (T.S.), Renée Humphrey (Trish), Joey Lauren Adams (Gwen), Sven-Ole Thorsen (LaFours), Ethan Suplee (William), Bryan Johnson (Steve Dave), Walter Flanagan (The Fanboy), Brian O’Halloran (Gil Hicks) and Scott Mosier (Roddy) will all be back. Claire Forlani, who played Brandi Svenning, has also joined the cast last week. Basically, everyone is confirmed except Ben Affleck

According to Smith, there are 18 returning characters from the original movie in his script along with six new characters. The title suggests those six characters – a younger generation of mall-bound characters – could be the “Brats.” Eugh!
