‘Kickboxer: Vengeance’ Teaser Trailer Hits the Web

The Mentor Role

Radar Pictures has released the first teaser trailer for its Kickboxer: Vengeance, the highly-anticipated reboot of the 1989 martial arts actioner, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Van Damme himself is returning to the upcoming Kickboxer reboot and will be replacing Tony Jaa in the mentor role.

This time around, Alain Moussi (X-Men: Days of Future Past) takes the lead role of Kurt Sloan, while other stars include Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Georges St. Pierre (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Gina Carano (Haywire), Darren Shahlavi (Ip Man 2), T.J. Storm (Punisher: War Zone), Matthew Ziff (The Martial Arts Kid) and Sara Malakul Lane (Sharktopus).

Have a look at the first teaser to whet your appetite.

So obvious how the guy made a front flip after that terrible kick. St. Pierre needs to both literally and figuratively shut the door on someone. I worry about his acting chops though. But there he is, JCVD, in all of his glory. I wonder how it will all play out. A longer trailer will hopefully surface online soon cause this was barely a teaser.

Eric (Darren Shahlavi) and Kurt Sloan (Alain Moussi) are the descendants of a well-known Venice, California-based family of martial artists. Kurt has always been in older brother, Eric’s shadow, as he lacks the instincts needed to become a champion. But when Kurt witnesses the merciless murder of his brother at the hands of Muay Thai champion Tong Po (Dave Bautista), he vows revenge. He trains with his brother’s mentor, Durand (Jean-Claude Van Damme), for a Muay Thai fight to the death with Tong Po. Durand first thinks Kurt impossible to train, but through a series of spiritual exercises and tests, Durand discovers that Kurt has a deeper strength that will carry him through his final showdown with Tong Po.
