Kinberg Directing ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’, Chastain for Lilandra

20th Century Fox has secured longtime X-Men series writer and producer Simon Kinberg to direct X-Men: Dark Phoenix, the upcoming follow-up to X-Men: Apocalypse.

Additionally, the studio has set a release date of Friday, November 2, 2018 for the tale of Jean Grey, which will bring back the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse, including James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

There are also rumors that Oscar-nominated actress Jessica Chastain is in talks to join the cast in a new role of the film’s lead villain – Shi’ar Empress Lilandra Neramani who leads the quest to imprison and execute Dark Phoenix, leading her into conflict with the X-Men.

The Simon Kinberg directed film will reportedly begin filming later this month in Montreal.
