Lightning McQueen Crashes in ‘Cars 3’ First Trailer

Disney and Pixar have released the first quick trailer for Cars 3, which teases a dramatic twist in the Lightning McQueen story.

Owen Wilson‘s McQueen is back in action, and will be facing a new foe in Jackson Storm. Larry the Cable Guy will return as the voice of beloved Mater, along with Bonnie Hunt as Sally Carrera, and Cheech Marin as Ramone. A third Cars movie will also introduce some new characters, like a new coach named Cruz Ramirez, a young Hispanic female race car who will give older vehicle McQueen some pointers on how to keep up with the young guys. As of this stage, voice actors for Storm Jackson and Cruz Ramirez has not been announced yet.

Cars 3 marks the directorial debut of Brian Fee, who worked as a story artist on the previous two Cars movies. The screenplay is written by Daniel Gerson. The film drives into theaters on June 16, 2017. Check out the 49-second clip that features race car number 9 cruising around the track and getting in a crash.
