‘Lizzie’ Trailer: A New Spin on the Borden Murders
Saban Films and Roadside Attractions have released the first trailer for the Sundance shocker Lizzie ahead of a release next month.
Starring Chloe Sevigny and Kristen Stewart, this racy period drama tells the true story of Lizzie Borden, who became the main suspect of killing her father and stepmother in Fall River, Mass.
The movie, which also stars Jamey Sheridan, Fiona Shaw, Kim Dickens, Denis O’Hare and Jeff Perry, may not be 100% historically accurate but creative speculation can be just as powerful as historical facts.
Lizzie opens in select theaters Sept. 14. Watch the full trailer below.
Academy Award® nominee Chloë Sevigny (Boys Don’t Cry, “Big Love”) stars as Lizzie Borden, the notorious woman at the heart of one of the most enduring mysteries in American history. After a lifetime of loneliness, Lizzie finds a kindred spirit in housemaid Bridget Sullivan (Kristen Stewart) and their secret intimacy sparks an unthinkable act. Director Craig William Macneill (The Boy (2015), “Channel Zero: Candle Cove”) explores the days leading up to the savage crimes in a dark tale of repression, exploitation and thwarted dreams.
