Lupita Nyong’o Added to STAR WARS: EPISODE VII List

A few days ago we brought you a shortlist of Star Wars contenders that includes young thespians clashing for one of the coveted roles which could propel any of them to stardom.

We do now have another piece of information that recent Oscar winning actress Lupita Nyong’o is in talks for a major female role in the film. A few weeks ago Nyong’o apparently met with director J.J.Abrams to read for a part that may be as a descendent of Obi-Wan Kenobi, what they call “a non-Caucasian role.”

Co-star of Liam Neeson’s Taken-on-a-plane actioner Non-Stop might very well be playing a villanous Sith, and it’s not one of the two leads rumored to be Skywalker offspring.

There is not much of genetic similarity between Nyong’o and Ewan McGregor  (in the prequel trilogy ) or Alec Guiness (in the original trilogy), the two actors who have played a Jedi Knight.Whatever the future holds, Lupita seems a nice addition to the team.

The Star Wars: Episode VII story is said to focus on a new generation of heroes and could include appearances by Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford in older incarnations of their beloved characters from the original Star Wars trilogy. The first film in the third trilogy is expected to begin shortly and whoever is going to star in the film, hits theaters on December 18, 2015.

We’ll be spooling up the engines once more official news is posted.
