MACHETE KILLS IN SPACE Could Begin Shooting This Year

Robert Rodriguez And Danny Trejo

Director Robert Rodriguez regular Danny Trejo revealed that filming begins later this year on Machete 3 in a recent interview with Halloween Daily News.

Trejo, who appeared this past weekend at the Mad Monster Party horror convention, admitted that work could start on the Machete Kills in Space film this year.

“Robert and I are going to start to do Machete Kills in Space, so that’s going to be awesome. Absolutely. We’re going to be working on it this year.”

Rodriguez originally teased the spoofy idea for Machete Kills Again…In Space at the end of the sequel Machete Kills. Well, if that’s true, it’ll be the third in a trilogy that started with the fake trailer included in Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez’s 2007 pastiche movie Grindhouse.

Below you’ll find the faux teaser for the upcoming second sequel to get a taste of the crazy shenanigans they can get up to in Machete Kills in Space.

Wasn’t the 2nd Machete a major flop? I dunno what the state of financing for a third looks like right now. They must be real cheap to make. If Leonardo DiCaprio will be the villain, that’d rock. Wouldn’t be so cheap though (lol). Hopefully Michelle Rodriguez comes back for this.

Robert Rodriguez is currently at work on his long-gestating live-action adaptation of Fire & Ice. the animated classic from director Ralph Bakshi and artist Frank Frazetta. Meanwhile, Mr. Trejo will appear in the Rodriguez-produced “From Dusk Till Dawn” series along with the other film projects he’s somehow involved in 2015, and then we could be seeing Machete Kills in Space sometime in 2016.
