Mariah Carey Joins ‘The Lego Batman Movie’ to Voice the Mayor of Gotham

Mariah Carey will be making a return to movies by heading to Gotham. Deadline first reported that the 45-year-old songstress is up for the role of Commissioner Gordon in The Lego Batman Movie, but now as THR reports, Carey is actually in talks to voice Gotham’s mayor.

Huh Batfans, no need to worry about the gender-swapped version of Commissioner, one of DC Comics most iconic characters – she’d be playing the Mayor of Gotham.

Either way, Carey is joining an impressive ensemble for this CGI animated spin-off of The Lego Movie, which includes Will Arnett as Batman, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred Pennyworth, Zach Galifianakis as The Joker, Rosario Dawson as Barbara Gordon/Batgirl, and Michael Cera as Robin. If we could get a duet with her and Arnett, that would be ace.

Chris McKay, who acted as Animation Supervisor on The Lego Movie, will direct from a script by Seth Grahame-Smith. The Lego Batman Movie is set to hit theaters February 10th 2017.
